The Canada Bay Bike Plan was adopted by council in 2005. The plan has features that support our main goals:

  1. High quality recreational paths: Good recreational paths create the conditions that encourage people to take up or resume cycling in our urban environment which is becoming increasingly hostile to non motorised road users.
  2. Connections between trip generators: Schools, parks, sports, shops, transport interchanges, workplaces. Tips the decision in favour of leaving the car at home and riding to nearby destinations.
  3. Connections across council boundaries: Connections with Putney, Meadowbank, Olympic park, Strathfield, Burwood, Croydon, Ashfield, Haberfield, Leichhardt, Balmain are identified on the plan. Integration with RMS’s regional routes are included on the plan.

Construction has been patchy. Council initiated a review in 2014.
